MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641091220 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on July 27, 2026, for Anatomically Orientable Cement-Control Pedicle Screw System And Method For Directed Vertebral Augmentation.

Inventor includes Sudharshan Prabhu.

The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an anatomically orientable cement-control pedicle screw system (100) and method (200) for directed vertebral augmentation. The system (100) includes a pedicle screw body (110), a central cement lumen (122), a cement inlet port (108), a distal cement-control sector (112), an outlet sector (130), a protected sector (132) and an orientation marker (106). The central cement lumen (122) extends longitudinally through pedicle screw body (110). The cement inlet port (108) is positioned at proximal end and configured to introduce injectable augmentation material into central cement lumen (122). The distal cement-control sector (112) is disposed adjacent the distal tip (114). The outlet sector (130) is formed in distal cement-control sector (112). The protected sector (132) circumferentially offsets from the outlet sector (130) and substantially devoid of cement outlet apertures. The orientation marker (106) identifies a circumferential orientation of outlet sector 130 and protected sector (132).
