Abstract: The present invention relates to the development of a methodology involves an exhaustive study of the mean labeling scheme, a mathematical concept used in graph theory, in order to optimize channels dynamically in clustered wireless sensor networks (WSNs). It is based on labeling the sensor nodes by different integers and using the arithmetic mean of two adjacent nodes in order to derive edge label values; thus, a systematic bijection can be made to the orthogonal channels available. This new approach helps reduce interference in clusters and also among neighboring cluster heads. The suggested technique is thoroughly tested under different conditions of network density and traffic load, as well as cluster sizes. The simulation results show that this approach helps optimize channels and reduce packet collisions and data throughput. FIG.1
