Abstract: ABSTRACT Title: An ultraviolet (UV) photodetector with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) derived from waste biomass from coconut shells. The present invention relates to an ultraviolet (UV) photodetector with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) derived from waste biomass from coconut shells, and a process for the preparation thereof. The invention relates to a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable ultraviolet (UV) photodetector utilising reduced graphene oxide (rGO) derived from waste biomass from coconut shells. The rGO is synthesized through an eco-friendly pyrolysis carbonization process derived from agricultural biomass waste, specifically coconut shells, as carbon precursor. The architecture of the device is based on the Metal- Semiconductor – Metal planar geometry. The device comprises a conductive layer coated substrate, an active rGO layer, and conductive layer electrodes configured in planar geometry. The device exhibits a self-powered operational mode and generates a measurable photo response at zero bias (0V) after UV-A illumination, and enables sensitive UV detection at room temperature thereby eliminating the requirement for external power sources.
