Abstract: ABSTRACT AN ULTRASOUND-BASED IMAGING SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR NON-DESTRUCTIVE EVALUATION OF A TEST OBJECT The present disclosure discloses an ultrasound-based imaging system(100) and a method(200) for non- destructive evaluation of a test object. The system(100) comprises a transducer array module(102) configured to transmit ultrasonic waves toward the test object and receive reflected RF signals. A data acquisition module(104) stores the RF signals corresponding to transmit–receive combinations. A processing module(106) processes the stored RF signals and includes a grid generation unit(108) configured to define spatial locations within the test object, a delay assessment module(110) configured to compute transmit and receive delays, and a delay compensation module(112) configured to generate delay-compensated RF signals. A coherence factor module(116) computes a coherence factor based on coherent and incoherent energy values. An allocation module(118), a summation module(120), and a weighting module(122) generate beamformed outputs using a coherence-factor-based weighting operation. An image reconstruction module(124) aggregates the beamformed outputs to generate a reconstructed ultrasonic image for defect evaluation.
