MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611056590 A) filed by Sharda University on May 04, 2026, for An Outdoor Optical Wireless Communication System And Method Thereof.

Inventors include Zafar, Yamaan; Bisht, Aman; and Kumar, Kapil.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: An outdoor optical wireless communication system (100) and method thereof for secure infrared-based wireless communication under ambient sunlight exposure conditions is disclosed. The system (100) includes a transmitter unit (102) having a data source (108), a modulation module (110), and one or more infrared Light Emitting Diodes, LEDs (112) configured to transmit modulated infrared optical signals through an optical communication channel (114). An intermediate filtering unit (104) including an Optical Bandpass Filter (116) is positioned between the transmitter unit (102) and a receiver unit (106) for attenuation of ambient optical radiation prior to signal reception. The receiver unit (106) includes signal reception, amplification, filtering, signal conversion, and data recovery components configured to process transmitted infrared optical signals and recover communication data. The Optical Bandpass Filter (116) and a High Pass Filter (122) collectively perform optical-domain noise attenuation and electrical-domain noise attenuation for reducing environmental optical interference and improving outdoor infrared optical communication reliability during direct sunlight exposure conditions.
