Abstract: ABSTRACT AN ORTHOPEDIC SLEEVE SYSTEM FOR ACTIVE VENTILATION AND MUSCLE STIMULATION DURING CAST IMMOBILIZATION The present disclosure envisages an orthopedic sleeve system (10) for active ventilation and muscle stimulation during cast immobilization. The system (10) comprises a sleeve (12) worn on a limb (14) beneath an orthopedic cast (16) and having an airflow channel network (22) with a main channel (24) and a plurality of secondary channels (26) terminating in micro-pores (28). An airflow generation unit (54) generates airflow through the airflow channel network (22), and a vibration module (30) provides mechanical stimulation to muscle regions (32) of the limb (14). A control module (18), detachably mounted externally of the cast (16), regulates the airflow generation unit (54) and the vibration module (30) and is connected to the sleeve (12) by a cable assembly (20) through a slot (58) of the cast (16). The system (10) reduces heat and moisture beneath the cast (16) and mitigates muscle atrophy during immobilization.
