The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a pH-triggered gastric release taste-masking oral microcapsule drug delivery system (100) and a method for its manufacture. The system is designed to effectively mask the objectionable taste of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) such as antibiotics and analgesics while ensuring rapid therapeutic onset. The microcapsule comprises an API-loaded core (101) encapsulated by a multi-layered coating architecture (102). This architecture consists of a thin, water- insoluble inner seal layer (103), preferably comprising ethylcellulose at a critically low weight gain of 1.0-3.5% w/w, and an outer pH-sensitive trigger layer (104), preferably comprising an aminoalkyl methacrylate copolymer (e.g., Eudragit® E) at a 3.0-6.0% w/w weight gain. The system operates via a micro-rupture mechanism: the outer layer provides a robust taste barrier in the mouth (pH ~6.8) but dissolves rapidly in the stomach (pH 3.5), triggering the mechanical rupture of the thin inner layer and a subsequent burst release of the API ( 90% in 15 mins).
