Abstract: The present invention discloses an oral care formulation for nitrate reduction in the oral cavity comprising 10% to 20% w/v of an aqua base; 1% to 4% w/v of a dietary nitrate source (beetroot extract); 0.2% to 2% w/v of an endogenous NO precursor (L-arginine); 1% to 6% w/v of a probiotic blend; 3% to 17% w/v of herbal ingredients; 0.2% to 1% w/v of an antioxidant (grape seed oil); 1% to 5% w/v of an adjunct active (xylitol and potassium citrate); 0.2% to 1.5% w/v of an optional ingredient (cool strip); and 50% to 85% w/v of additives, wherein the additives are selected from a sweetener, a flavour, a preservative, natural abrasives, a humectant, a surfactant and a stabilizer. The present invention also discloses a process of preparing the oral care formulation for nitrate reduction in oral cavities.
