The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an optical instrumentation system (100) for real-time monitoring of bone fracture healing progression that comprises an external orthopedic fixation assembly i.e., Limb Reconstruction System (LRS) (101) to stabilize a fracture bone; at least one optical sensor (15) attached to said external orthopedic fixation assembly (101) to detect strain variations; at least one light source (8) is a super luminescent light emitting diode (SLED) to generate an optical illumination for said optical interrogator module (11); optical splitter module (10) optically coupled to said light source (8) directs the optical signal toward said optical sensor (15); optical interrogator module (11) configured to receive the optical signal from said optical sensor (15) to detect variations in optical parameter of interfragmentary strain at the fracture site; and data acquisition and processing module (13) coupled to said optical interrogator module (11) to collect and process a strain data in real time to classify the stages of fracture healing progression.
