Abstract: The present invention is related to an optical device for rapid reagent free testing of lipid concentration. This optical sensing device comprises a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microfluidic channel maintaining laminar flow, integrated with an RGB sensor (TCS34725) and a multichannel spectral sensor (AS7265x Triad) capturing wavelength-specific scattering responses from 410 nm to 940 nm across visible and near-infrared regions. Lipid-induced turbidity and wavelength-dependent scattering produce distinct spectral fingerprints corresponding to lipid concentration, with maximum discrimination at 410 nm, 535 nm, 645 nm, and the near-infrared region. An ESP32 microcontroller processes optical signals from both sensors, and a protective enclosure isolates the optical path from external interference. The device achieves approximately 85–90% detection accuracy within five minutes, validated using blood-mimicking fluids and human plasma samples. Operating without biochemical reagents, the device provides a portable, low-cost platform for point-of-care cardiovascular risk screening and mass screening of metabolic health in resource-limited settings.
