Abstract: An open-path infrared spectrometer (100) is disclosed. The open-path infrared spectrometer (100) includes an infrared radiation detection unit (101) having a receiver module (102), an interferometer apparatus (104) and a detection module (106). The receiver module (102) is adapted to receive a primary infrared radiation from a source in an environment. The interferometer apparatus (104) having a self-compensating beam splitter (108) is adapted to split the incoming infrared radiation into a transmitted IR beam and a reflected IR beam. The self-compensating beam splitter (108) is having a plurality of coating at predefined sections in one of a front surface (302) and a rear surface (304). The detection module (106) is adapted to receive the transmitted IR beam and the reflected IR beam from the interferometer apparatus (104) and generate one of a primary interferogram and a secondary interferogram.
