Abstract: ABSTRACT An Obturator for Functional Rehabilitation and Controlled Drug Delivery in Cancer Patients An obturator for functional rehabilitation and controlled drug delivery in cancer patients comprises a body (1) adapted to fit within the maxillary defect / cavity in mouth so as to facilitate and restore the oral functions of the patients post – surgery. At least one hollow compartment (2), provided within the body (1) to accommodate at least one drug reservoir (3) therewith to store / receive the therapeutic agents or drug therein. Multiple microchannels (4) provided on the inner surface the body (1) facing the drug reservoir (3) to allow the drug to slowly move from the drug reservoir (3) to the target site of the maxillary defect. A membrane (5) placed between the drug reservoir (3) and the microchannels (4), is provided to regulate and sustain the release of the therapeutic agents/drug in controlled manner at the maxillary defect site of the patients.
