MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611024124 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on February 28, 2026, for An Obstacle Avoidance And Autonomous Soft Landing System.
Inventors include Shyam Kamal; Animesh Srivastava; Vinay Pandey; Eram Taslima; and Baby Diana.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides an obstacle avoidance and autonomous soft landing system (100) comprises a set of sensors (101), an image data processing unit (102), an inertial measurement unit (IMU) (103), a control unit (104), an optimization unit (105) and a sensor fusion unit (106). The image data processing unit (102) and said inertial measurement unit (103) both is connected to the set of sensors (101) configured to extract flight-state information through real-time image processing and measure the real-time data on attitude, velocity, and acceleration respectively. The control unit (104) is connected with both said image processing unit (102) and said inertial measurement unit (103) configure to generate high-fidelity obstacle and state information. Further, said control unit (104) includes sensor fusion unit (106) configure to estimate the flight state information and supervise mode transmission between different modes of operations for ensuring stable obstacle avoidance navigation in communication loss conditions.
