Abstract: An Irreversible Time-Temperature Indicator (TTI) monitor and record temperature breaches over time for temperature-sensitive products. The Time-Temperature Indicator (TTI) comprises a substrate with a layer of dense silica photonic crystals and a phase-change material (PCM) layer containing polyethylene glycol (PEG) of varying molecular weights. The phase-change material (PCM) layer is engineered to undergo a phase change at specific temperatures, resulting in an irreversible colour change from blue to colourless in the silicate photonic crystals. This colour change provides a clear, tamper-proof visual indication of temperature breaches, ensuring the integrity and safety of products such as pharmaceuticals, perishable foods, and frozen goods. The invention covers a temperature range from -20°C to 65°C and includes methods for preparing the Time-Temperature Indicator (TTI). The Time-Temperature Indicator (TTI) is customizable for different temperature ranges, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of
