Abstract: An internet-of-things-integrated wireless sensor network system for real-time environmental monitoring and predictive alert generation is disclosed. A wireless sensor network of plural sensor nodes is distributed over an environment, each node sensing environmental parameters, temperature, humidity, air quality, gas or pollutant concentration, water level or quality, soil condition, sound, or radiation, and communicating the data wirelessly, the nodes being inexpensive and energy-efficient. An internet-of-things communication and aggregation arrangement, comprising a low-power wide-area, mesh, or cellular network with routing and optional edge processing, conveys the data to a processing platform and aggregates it. The platform monitors the parameters in real time and applies a predictive model, comprising a machine learning model trained on historical data that captures the spatiotemporal patterns by which conditions develop, to predict a future environmental condition, an approaching hazardous condition, a threshold exceedance, or an event, with its location, time, and confidence, in advance and with a lead time sufficient for an anticipatory response. An alert generation arrangement then delivers a predictive alert by notification, dashboard, or actuation before the condition occurs, enabling anticipatory action to prevent, mitigate, or prepare, where conventional monitoring is sparse, delayed, and reactive.
