Abstract: The rapid growth of urbanization and vehicle ownership has increased the demand for efficient and intelligent parking management systems. Conventional parking systems often require drivers to manually search for available spaces, resulting in increased traffic congestion, fuel consumption, parking time, and driver frustration. This paper presents an IoT-Enabled Smart Parking Space Detection and Indication System designed to automatically detect the availability of individual parking spaces and provide real-time occupancy information to users. The proposed system utilizes sensors installed at each parking slot to identify whether a vehicle is present or absent. A microcontroller processes the sensor data and updates the parking status in real time. The availability of each parking space is indicated through visual indicators such as LEDs, while the collected information can also be transmitted through an IoT platform for remote monitoring and management. The system provides a simple and cost-effective solution for monitoring multiple parking spaces and can be expanded to support mobile applications, cloud-based dashboards, automated reservation, and intelligent parking guidance. By reducing the time required to locate an available parking space, the proposed system can contribute to reduced traffic congestion, lower fuel consumption, and improved utilization of existing parking infrastructure. The developed approach demonstrates the potential of IoT technology to provide an efficient, scalable, and user-friendly solution for smart parking management in residential areas, commercial complexes, educational institutions, hospitals, and smart city environments.
