Abstract: The present invention relates to an IoT-enabled, modular environmental monitoring system for real-time sensing and automated regulatory compliance. The system comprises a base monitoring unit operatively connected to a plurality of plug-and-play sensor modules configured to measure environmental parameters, including air quality, water quality, soil conditions, and ambient noise. An embedded processor performs adaptive data acquisition, edge-based preprocessing, and machine-learning-assisted fault detection to validate sensor data. A compliance rule engine executed on the device evaluates the validated data against jurisdiction-specific regulatory thresholds and averaging criteria to determine compliance in real time. Non-compliance events are cryptographically signed using a secure hardware element to generate tamper-evident and legally defensible records. The signed data is transmitted to a cloud platform for automated report generation and electronic submission to regulatory authorities, with secure offline buffering during network unavailability. The invention provides a scalable and reliable solution for environmental compliance monitoring.
