Abstract: ABSTRACT AN IOT-BASED REAL-TIME CURRENCY IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED USERS The present invention relates to an IoT-based real-time currency identification system configured to assist visually impaired users in identifying and validating currency notes independently. The system comprises an ESP32 microcontroller unit, a color sensor module, an infrared detection sensor, an audio output module, and a speaker unit configured to provide real- time voice feedback regarding detected currency denominations. The invention operates as a standalone portable system without requiring internet connectivity. The infrared sensor detects insertion of a currency note, after which the color sensor acquires RGB values corresponding to the note. The microcontroller compares sensed data with predefined denomination patterns and generates corresponding audio outputs through a speaker module. The invention further enables identification of damaged or suspicious notes and supports future integration with machine-learning-based validation systems. The system is compact, low-cost, portable, energy- efficient, and suitable for daily financial transactions, banking assistance, public transport applications, and assistive technology devices..
