Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an Internet of Things (IoT)-based automatic vehicle accident detection and emergency alert system for detecting an accident involving a vehicle and transmitting an emergency alert to predefined recipients. The system comprises a plurality of sensing units configured to monitor parameters associated with vehicle motion and impact, a processing unit configured to analyse the sensed parameters and determine occurrence of an accident condition, a Global Positioning System (GPS) module configured to determine geographical coordinates of the vehicle, and a communication module configured to transmit an emergency alert containing accident-related information and the geographical coordinates to one or more predefined emergency contacts or rescue services. Upon detection of the accident condition, the processing unit automatically initiates acquisition of the vehicle location and transmission of the emergency alert, thereby facilitating prompt communication of accident information without requiring manual intervention by the vehicle occupant.
