Inventors include Thamizhvaani K; Srinalini R; and Dr. P. Velmurugan.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: Night-time driving accidents contribute to nearly half of total road fatalities, with headlight glare identified as a major risk factor affecting driver visibility and reaction time. Existing automatic high beam assist systems in premium vehicles are costly and often ineffective in detecting low-beam vehicles, making them unsuitable for widespread adoption in developing regions. This project proposes a cost-effective, IoT-based adaptive headlight control system using Arduino and RF communication. The system employs an LDR sensor to detect incoming light intensity from approaching vehicles and automatically switches between high and low beams to minimize glare. Additionally, wireless communication between vehicles enables real-time signal transmission, ensuring synchronized response even when light detection is insufficient. The integration of L293D drivers ensures efficient control of lighting mechanisms. This solution enhances road safety, reduces driver discomfort, and offers an affordable alternative for improving night-time driving conditions in conventional vehicles.
