Abstract: The present invention discloses an intrusion detection system for detecting unauthorized Server Message Block access using a Monosek Protocol Analyzer. The system comprises a Monosek server, packet capture engine, packet analysis module, SMB port correlation module, session behaviour evaluator, packet record database, and alert module. Network packets exchanged between a user system and server are captured and analysed to extract source address, destination address, destination port, packet timing, packet size, packet number, TCP flag status, and session behaviour. The system compares destination ports with SMB-associated ports and correlates port exposure with repeated connection attempts, abnormal packet generation, suspicious SYN activity, and unauthorized data collection behaviour. When an unauthorized SMB access condition is detected, the Monosek server generates an attack message and transmits an alert to a Monosek client associated with the victim system. Captured packets are also stored for forensic analysis. The invention enables real-time and forensic detection of SMB access attacks with improved alerting and packet-level evidence preservation.
