Inventors include Arumugam Sivakumar; Joseph Sumith; Matamana Anandakrishnan; Biswa Ranjan Das; Ravinandan Gurunath Vaishyar; and Prem Anand.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an internal combustion engine (100) for a vehicle, comprising a crankshaft (200) and one or more pistons (302, 304) operatively coupled to the crankshaft (200) via one or more connecting rods. The one or more pistons (302, 304) reciprocate between a Top Dead Centre (TDC) and a Bottom Dead Centre (BDC) within respective cylinder bores. The crankshaft (200) comprises at least two apertures (210a, 210b) spaced apart and adapted to allow selective locking of the one or more pistons (302, 304) at the corresponding TDC. The configuration enables precise positioning of the one or more pistons (302, 304) at TDC, facilitating accurate deck clearance measurement for compression ratio evaluation during assembly, servicing, or calibration. The disclosed arrangement ease and enhances deck clearance measurement accuracy, which helps to improve engine efficiency, and reduces variability, thereby optimizing vehicle performance and reliability.
