Abstract: This invention presents a Smart Waste Classification and Automated Segregation System that uses artificial intelligence and image processing techniques to improve waste management. The main purpose of this system is to automatically identify and classify different types of waste materials so that they can be separated properly without the need for manual sorting. The system works by capturing images of waste objects using a camera-based input system. These images are then processed using image preprocessing techniques such as resizing, normalization, and noise reduction to improve image quality. After preprocessing, the images are analyzed by a deep learning model based on the MobileNetV2 convolutional neural network architecture. The model is trained to recognize different waste categories including plastic, paper, metal, glass, and organic waste. Once the waste type is identified, the system determines the appropriate bin for disposal and performs automated segregation through a decision logic module. The system also includes a 3D simulation module that visually demonstrates the segregation process using conveyor belt movement and robotic sorting logic.
