Abstract: The present invention discloses an intelligent smart waste segregation device utilizing computer vision, artificial intelligence, multi-sensor fusion, and automated electromechanical sorting mechanisms for efficient real-time waste management. The device comprises a waste input chamber, image acquisition unit, multi-sensor array, processing unit, automated segregation assembly, IoT communication module, and categorized waste collection compartments configured to automatically identify and classify waste materials including biodegradable waste, recyclable plastics, metals, glass, paper, electronic waste, and hazardous waste. The image acquisition unit captures visual data of waste materials, while the processing unit executes machine learning and deep learning algorithms for waste recognition and classification. The multi-sensor array comprising moisture sensors, gas sensors, weight sensors, temperature sensors, ultrasonic sensors, and metallic detectors provides supplementary physical and environmental data for sensor fusion analysis, thereby improving classification accuracy and minimizing false detection probabilities. Upon successful classification, the automated segregation assembly directs waste materials into designated disposal compartments using servo-controlled gates, conveyor diverters, robotic manipulators, or pneumatic actuators. The device further includes IoT-enabled communication interfaces for cloud-based monitoring, analytics, maintenance management, and waste collection optimization. The invention significantly reduces manual waste handling, improves recycling efficiency, minimizes contamination in recyclable waste streams, enhances operational safety, and supports sustainable waste management applications across residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and smart city environments.
