Abstract: The present invention relates generally to educational technology and mobile device management systems, and more particularly to a smart classroom access control system employed for restricting and monitoring student device usage during scheduled class sessions. Specifically, it relates to an intelligent architecture capable of automatically enforcing an application and website whitelist on enrolled student devices for the duration of a live class session, propagating policy changes to all enrolled devices in real time, and automatically reverting all restrictions the instant the session ends. The present invention relates to a smart classroom access control and student device management system that automatically restricts access to non-whitelisted applications and websites on enrolled student devices for the duration of a scheduled class session, and automatically reverts all restrictions the instant the session ends. To achieve this, the proposed system employs a cloud-hosted session management backend interfaced with a teacher module for live session creation and control, a student module for session enrolment and on-device restriction enforcement, and a web-based Admin module for institution-wide account and policy oversight. In addition to session lifecycle management, the invention integrates a layered on-device enforcement subsystem combining application-level restriction, achieved through device management APIs operating in a Device Owner or Work Profile capacity, with network-level restriction, achieved through a local, on-device site and DNS filtering service that requires no third-party traffic routing. A real-time push-notification subsystem propagates every whitelist, lock, or session-status change to all enrolled devices within seconds, while a locally cached policy state ensures enforcement continuity during intermittent network connectivity. By combining automatic session-bound enforcement, layered on-device restriction, real-time propagation, and institution-wide administrative oversight, this invention provides a reliable, centrally supervised solution that reduces classroom distraction, minimizes manual intervention, and restores full device access automatically and without delay once a session concludes.
