Abstract: The present invention relates to an IoT-enabled intelligent kitchen safety system that autonomously detects hazardous cooking conditions and actively mitigates risks through physical control of a cooking appliance. The invention addresses critical safety issues arising from unattended cooking, gas leakage, excessive smoke generation, and deterioration of indoor air quality, which are leading causes of kitchen fires and accidents in residential and commercial environments. The system comprises a stove sensor module configured to monitor operational parameters of a cooking appliance, including burner activation, flame presence, power consumption, and surface temperature. An air quality sensor module is provided to continuously monitor environmental parameters such as smoke concentration, combustible gas levels, carbon monoxide concentration, and ambient temperature within the kitchen. Sensor outputs are received by an embedded processing and control unit, which performs signal conditioning, normalization, and real-time evaluation of sensor data. The embedded processing unit correlates stove activity data with air quality parameters to determine whether cooking is unattended or whether unsafe environmental conditions exist. Upon identification of a hazardous condition, the processing unit generates a control signal that actuates a burner control mechanism, such as an electromechanical gas valve or relaycontrolled power cutoff, to physically disable the stove or burner. This results in a direct technical effect on the cooking appliance, preventing escalation of fire or gas-related hazards. An IoT communication module enables transmission of alerts, system status information, and hazard notifications to authorized user devices or remote monitoring platforms, thereby providing real- time awareness while the system independently performs safety mitigation. Safety events may also be logged for diagnostics and compliance purposes. The invention provides a technical solution to the technical problem of kitchen hazard prevention by implementing a closed-loop safety mechanism that integrates sensing hardware, embedded decision-making, communication modules, and physical actuation.
