The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an end-to-end AI powered road damage detection and reporting system that automatically identifies and categorizes and prioritizes road damage severity into several classes as good, satisfactory, poor, very poor based on citizen uploaded photos and notifies authorities for timely repair. The system comprises a two-stage neural pipeline (YOLOv8 for detection and a CNN severity classifier) and enriches each report with GPS and weather data to forecast future deterioration. Novel features of the system include de-duplication of reports, crowd- sourced hotspot analysis, and weather driven “road health” forecasts. The system yields high detection accuracy and real-time alerts for severe damage. Tested on public road imagery datasets, by automating inspection, improving data integrity, and predicting damage progression, the system accelerates maintenance cycles, reduces costs, and enhances public safety in urban infrastructure.
