Abstract: Air is vital for the living environment. Due to the modern industrial advances that lead to polluted air which causes various health problems for mankind. Various meteorological factors like temperature, AQI, seasons, transport, and industrial emissions affect the air pollution at a particular location. This project presents a budget- friendly IoT-based air quality monitoring and prediction system designed for accessible, real-time environmental tracking. Utilizing low-cost sensors and a Wi-Fi- enabled microcontroller, the system provides an efficient solution for monitoring air pollutants and forecasting air quality levels in homes, schools, and public areas. The primary components include the ESP320 microcontroller, gas sensor, and PMS5003 particulate matter sensor. These sensors collect environmental data such as gas concentration, and PM2.5 levels. The ESP320 transmits this data wirelessly to an IoT platform—Thing Speak—for visualization, logging, and analysis. A lightweight classification algorithm is implemented to categorize air quality into qualitative states such as “Good,” “Moderate,” or “Unhealthy,” based on the collected values. Users can view data trends and receive alerts via cloud dashboards, making the system ideal for health-conscious individuals and communities. Emphasis is placed on low power consumption, affordability, and ease of deployment. The project demonstrates how basic IoT technologies can be leveraged for environmental sensing without relying on expensive hardware or complex infrastructure.
