Abstract: The present invention relates to an intelligent dustbin (1) for automated plastic identification and segregation. The apparatus comprises a feeding unit (11) configured to receive waste material, a sorting unit (21) including a capacitive sensor (27) and an X-flap assembly (22), a shredder unit (31) shred the segregated plastic waste, a plastic collecting unit (41), a filter unit (51), and a control unit (61). The control unit (61) processes sensing signals generated by the capacitive sensor (27) to classify the waste material and actuating the X- flap assembly (22) to selectively direct plastic waste toward the shredder unit (31) and non-plastic waste toward a non-plastic storage bin (52). The apparatus further comprises a load cell (44), ultrasonic sensors (45, 53), and a float switch sensor (58) for monitoring processing and storage conditions. The invention enables automated plastic waste management with integrated monitoring, validation and reward-based user participation.
