MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621066423 A) filed by Vishal Gunjal on May 26, 2026, for An Integated Soil Moisture Sensing Systems Using Two Integated Sensor Bodies Employing Fdr, Tdt And Tensiometric Method With Soil Temparature Sensing And Iot Connectevity..

Inventor includes Vishal Gunjal.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an integrated soil moisture sensing system for agricultural monitoring, precision irrigation, and crop advisory applications. The system comprises two separate single-body sensor units, each incorporating two stainless steel pipe ring electrodes configured for Capacitive sensing or Frequency Domain Reflectometry (FDR) and Time-Domain Transmissometry (TDT) sensing methods, and a gypsum block configured for tensiometric sensing to measure soil water tension. The gypsum block is positioned between the stainless steel pipe ring electrodes such that opposite surfaces of the gypsum block remain in direct contact with surrounding soil. The sensor components are integrated and molded into a sturdy single-body sensor unit suitable for field deployment. The sensor units are connected through flexible cables to a microcontroller-based printed circuit board (PCB) configured to receive and process sensing signals. The PCB comprises a 72 MHz MEMS oscillator for FDR sensing and one or more ultra- wideband frequency synthesizer integrated circuits (ICs) operating within a frequency bandwidth ranging from 1 GHz to 6 GHz for TDT sensing. A soil temperature sensing element is directly connected to the PCB for temperature-compensated soil monitoring. The PCB is further connected through a cable to an IoT-enabled device configured for real-time data communication, monitoring, irrigation decision support, and crop advisory applications. The present invention provides a multi-method, integrated, and IoT- enabled soil moisture sensing system capable of improving sensing accuracy, irrigation efficiency, soil quality, reducing soil salinity risks, minimizing water wastage, and enhancing agricultural productivity.
