MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631082643 A) filed by Dr. Amarendranath Choudhury; and Pradip Doley on July 04, 2026, for An Innovative Bio-Innoculum Formulation And Method To Artificial Induction Of Agar Resin In Aquilaria Sp.
Inventors include Dr. Amarendranath Choudhury; and Pradip Doley.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel bio-inoculum formulation and a specialized method for the artificial induction of agarwood resin (agar resin) in trees of the genus Aquilaria. The formulation comprises a synergistic consortium of specific endophytic fungi, including but not limited to Fusarium solani, Aspergillus niger, and Lasiodiplodia theobromae, stabilized in a nutrient-rich liquid medium supplemented with organic elicitors. The method involves a precision injection technique that optimizes the physiological stress response of the tree, triggering the rapid synthesis of sesquiterpenoids and phenolic compounds. This invention significantly reduces the induction period from several years to 6–12 months while ensuring high-grade resin quality comparable to naturally occurring agarwood.
