MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511012695 A) filed by Indian Council Of Agricultural Research on February 14, 2025, for An In Vitro Assay For Assessing The Aflatoxin M1 Toxicity In A Sample.
Inventors include Onteru, Suneel Kumar; Kapri, Ankita; Sharma, Sanjay; Rani, Suman; Patel, Priyanka; and Singh, Dheer.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an invitro assay for determining the presence of aflatoxin toxicity in a given sample. More specifically, the present disclosure provides a Pregnane X Receptor (PXR) transcript-based colorimetric RT-LAMP assay to assess AFM1 toxicity in a dose-dependent manner in HepG2 liver cells using a drop of spent media. Moreover, as the method of present disclosure relies solely on the spent media of AFM1-treated HepG2 cells to assess AFM1-induced toxicity at the molecular level, there is no need to lyse the cells, isolate RNA, and perform qPCR. The mammalian cell-based colorimetric RT-LAMP assay described in the present disclosure is therefore non-invasive, faster and easier to perform.
