Abstract: An in situ gelling nasal drug formulation is disclosed for intranasal delivery of a therapeutic agent. The formulation includes a drug containing phase, aqueous vehicle, trigger responsive gelling polymer, mucoadhesive polymer, buffering and tonicity system, and optional stabilizing excipients. The composition remains liquid before administration and forms a gelled mucosal depot after exposure to nasal physiological conditions. The depot improves mucosal residence and supports controlled drug release while maintaining compatibility with nasal applicators and patient acceptable administration.
