Abstract: An improved process for the process of the preparation of Ethyl-2-(7-(4-Cyclopentyl-3-(trifluoromethyl) benzyloxy)-1,2,3,4-tetra hydrocyclopenta [b] indol-3-yl) acetate compound of Formula I, which comprises of condensation of ethyl 2-(7- hydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocyclopenta[b]indol-3-yl) acetate compound of Formula II with 4-(chloromethyl)- 1-cyclopentyl-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzene compound of Formula III, in the presence of a dimethyl formamide, potassium carbonate, ethyl acetate, process water and isolated in petroleum ether to give compound of Ethyl-2-(7-(4-Cyclopentyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzyloxy)-1,2,3,4- tetrahydrocyclopenta[b]indol-3-yl)acetate compound of Formula I which is further purified with ethanol.
