MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631109409 A) filed by Prof. Dandadhar Sarma; and Ms. Diksheeta Chutia on September 11, 2026, for An Improved Hatching Tray For Concrete Catfish Hatchery.

Inventors include Prof. Dandadhar Sarma; Ms. Diksheeta Chutia; Mr. Manoj Talukdar; Dr. Kuladip Sarma; Dr. Tarachand Kumawat; Dr. Labrechai Mog Chowdhury; and Mr. Amal Medhi.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: A cuboidal hatching tray(1) with handles(2) maintaining subsurface water level of 2-3cm inside it when placed in water filled hatchery canal(6). The ratio of its length(1a) to breadth(1b) to height(1c) is 7.75: 5.63:1; all sides of the tray(1) have uniform 2.5cm thickness; length(2a) of handles(2) is equal to the height(1c) of tray(1); height(2b) is 1/5th of the height(1c); weight of each handles(2) is 6% of total weight of tray(1); ratio of the weight of tray(1) to its total surface area is 972.6:1. These parameters make the tray(1) stay sub-submerged in the water maintaining the subsurface level, by balancing the weight, surface area with the buoyancy. The tray(1) also maintains its inside water temperature at 2.9-5.8 °C below the maximum ambient air temperature and can be lifted by holding at the pair of handles(2) from one side only. It is suitable for catfish fertilized eggs hatching in a concrete hatchery.
