The extravasation detection system may include a multi-modal skin patch (102) attached to a skin (104) of a patient near a cannula insertion site (106). The extravasation detection system may further include a Reusable Electronics Module (REM) (108) detachably and communicatively coupled to the multi-modal skin patch (102). The extravasation detection system may further include a processor (202A) communicatively coupled to the REM (108). The processor (202A) is further configured to receive the multimodal sensor data from the REM (108); determine an occurrence of an extravasation condition at the cannula insertion site (106) based on the multimodal sensor data; and upon determining the occurrence of the extravasation condition, transmit an injector control command to an injector controller (110).
