An adaptive control engine (112) receives physiological data from the wearable sensor devices (102). The adaptive control engine (112) includes processing, memory, communication, data synchronization, signal pre-processing, state classification, decision generation, actuator control, feedback evaluation, policy learning, data storage, and power management units. The adaptive control engine (112) processes the physiological data, classifies a mental or emotional state of a user, and generates coordinated control commands for lighting device (114), an HVAC device (116), an audio device (118), and other ambient devices (120). Feedback physiological signals received after environmental adjustment are evaluated to modify subsequent control commands for maintaining a user-specific comfort or state-regulation condition.
