Abstract: The present invention relates to an energy-efficient uninterruptible power supply system. The system designed to extend backup duration for critical loads. The system comprises an AC input (101) coupled to a rectifier-charger (102) for supplying DC power to a first battery (106), a second battery (107), and a supercapacitor (103). During backup operation, the batteries (106, 107) are alternately connected through a controllable switch (108) to charge the supercapacitor (103), which delivers power to an inverter (104) supplying a load (105). By isolating the load from direct battery discharge, the invention mitigates rate-capacity effects associated with high discharge currents. Alternating discharge cycles provide rest periods for each battery, enabling electrochemical recovery and improved voltage stability. The supercapacitor (103) further smoothens transient load demands, reducing electrical and thermal stress on the batteries. The disclosed architecture enhances battery utilization, increases backup time, and improves operational reliability of UPS systems deployed in critical infrastructure applications.
