MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611064815 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Jammu on May 22, 2026, for An Energy Conversion System For An Electric Vehicle (ev).

Abstract: An energy conversion system (100) for an electric vehicle (EV) includes a bidirectional converter (102) electrically coupled to a battery pack (200) of the EV; a direct current (DC)-link bus (104); a three-phase inverter (106) electrically coupled to the DC-link bus (104); a permanent magnet synchronous motor (108) having stator windings (108A) electrically coupled to the three-phase inverter (106); and a reconfiguration circuit (110) electrically coupled to the stator windings (110A) to selectively reconfigure the stator windings (110A) between a first configuration for traction operation, and a second configuration for charging operation. In first configuration, the three-phase inverter (106) drives the permanent magnet synchronous motor (108). In second configuration, the stator windings (110A) functions as inductive elements of a power factor correction circuit, and the three-phase inverter (106) operates as an active rectifier to convert an alternating current (AC) grid voltage into DC energy on the DC-link bus (104).
