MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421098004 A) filed by Abbott Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. on December 11, 2024, for An Enema Administering Apparatus And A Method Of Manufacturing A Pouch Therefor.
Inventors include Mesta Vikrant; Ambujan Jithin; Mishra Rajesh; and Tiwari Ashwin.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an enema administering apparatus (100) which includes a pouch (110) having an opening (120) and adapted to store a drug (150). A catheter tube (130) in fluid communication with the pouch (110) through the opening (120). A flow regulator valve (140) disposed on the catheter tube (130) and adapted to regulate flow of the drug (150) through the catheter tube (130). A pressure applicator (160) disposed at an end distal to the opening (120) for applying pressure on the pouch (110) to gradually propagate the drug (150) through the opening (120). By having the apparatus (100) as disclosed herein, the drug (150) stored in the pouch (110) emptied out during administration of enema to the patient, and there is no wastage of the drug (150) as experienced in the prior art.
