Abstract: ABSTRACT AN ELECTROSTATIC AIR PURIFICATION SYSTEM USING GEL-BASED VOLUMETRIC PARTICLE ENCAPSULATION The present invention relates to an air purification system (100) for removing airborne particulate matter using electrostatic charging and gel-based encapsulation. The system (100) comprises a housing (102) defining an airflow path, an electrostatic ionization unit (104) configured to charge airborne particles, an electric field generating arrangement (106) for directing the charged particles, and a collection module (108) comprising a viscoelastic biodegradable gel medium for capturing and immobilizing the particles. The system further includes an airflow generation mechanism for inducing airflow and a control unit for regulating operating conditions. The invention further provides a method (200) comprising introducing (202) air into the system, charging (204) particles, directing (206) the charged particles, and encapsulating the particles within the gel medium.
