MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641075186 A) filed by Ms. Trasha Suresh Shetty; and Dr. Anshuman Darbari on June 17, 2026, for An Electronic Level Sensor With Integrated Automatic Fluid Addition Module For Cardiopulmonary Bypass During Cardiac Surgery.

Inventors include Ms. Trasha Suresh Shetty; and Dr. Anshuman Darbari.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic level sensor with an integrated automatic fluid addition module for cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) systems used during cardiac surgery. The invention comprises a venous reservoir (101), an optical sensing arrangement including a light source (102) and a light-sensitive sensor which is light dependent resistor (LDR) (103), an electronic control circuit (104), a fluid addition module (105), and a replenishment fluid source (106). The optical sensing arrangement continuously monitors the fluid level within the venous reservoir. When the fluid level decreases below a predetermined threshold, the control circuit automatically activates the fluid addition module to transfer replenishment fluid into the venous reservoir. Upon restoration of the fluid level to a predetermined operating range, the control circuit automatically terminates fluid delivery. The invention provides closed-loop reservoir volume management, reduces perfusionist workload, improves response time to fluid depletion events, enhances patient safety, and supports the development of semi-automated and fully automated cardiopulmonary bypass systems.
