MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441097313 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 10, 2024, for An Electrochromic System For An Upholstery Unit Of A Vehicle And A Method Thereof.

Abstract: TITLE: “AN ELECTROCHROMIC SYSTEM FOR AN UPHOLSTERY UNIT OF A VEHICLE AND A METHOD THEREOF” ABSTRACT An electrochromic system (100) for an upholstery unit (200) of a vehicle is disclosed. The system includes a heat source (101) of the vehicle, a generator (102), an electrochromic film (205), and a control unit (103) of the vehicle. The heat source transmits waste heat generated by the vehicle and is one of, engine and battery pack of the vehicle. The generator is fluidly coupled to the heat source. The control unit is coupled to the heat source and the generator and is configured to selectively extract waste heat from the heat source and adapted to transmit electrical energy to the electrochromic film. The electrochromic film provisioned in the upholstery unit changes preset colour of the upholstery unit to a target colour based on input received by a user of the vehicle.
