Abstract: The present invention relates to an automatic waste level detection and notification system for dustbins. designed to monitor waste levels and automate waste collection management. The system employs multiple ultrasonic sensors to measure the distance between the sensor and the trash, allowing accurate calculation of the bin’s fill level and remaining capacity. An IR proximity sensor provides additional detection when waste reaches a threshold. The ESP32 microcontroller processes sensor data and communicates it via GSM, Wi-Fi, or IoT networks to a central monitoring platform. When the bin reaches a preset limit, the system automatically sends alerts, optionally including GPS-based location data, to municipal authorities or designated users. The invention reduces manual inspection, enhances waste collection efficiency, prevents overflow, and supports integration with solar power for energy-efficient operation. It is scalable for deployment in smart cities, hospitals, offices, rural communities, and high-traffic public spaces, thereby improving environmental hygiene and enabling data-driven waste management.
