Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: AN AUTOMATIC PROFILE SCANNER FOR ESTIMATION OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL (3D) TYRE CONTACT FEATURES. This invention relates to an automated profile scanner for estimating three-dimensional tyre-ground contact features. It utilizes a Time-of-Flight distance sensor mounted on a motor-driven gantry to scan rut depth at pre-determined grid intervals, generating a data matrix. This matrix is processed to digitally re-construct the 3D footprint and calculate contact volume, contact surface area, and projected footprint area. It provides a non-destructive, rapid, and accurate alternative to traditional molding methods for analyzing soil-tyre interaction. Fig. 1
