Abstract: ABSTRACT AN AUTOMATED VISUAL INSPECTION SYSTEM FOR WIRING HARNESS ASSEMBLIES An automated visual inspection system (100) for wiring harness assemblies is disclosed. The system comprises an inspection table (101) on which a flexible wiring harness (120) is placed in free-form condition with positioning jigs (102), multiple cameras (103, 104, 105), controlled lighting (106) and a barcode scanner (107). An image processing module (108) transforms captured images into a common coordinate frame (125) using a calibration pattern (126). Nodes (122) and branches (123) are identified and matched with a stored reference harness topology map. Lengths of harness segments from node to node, node to clamp and node to end of taping are measured along the actual curved centerline path, with interrupted portions bridged for continuity across multiple camera views. The system detects child parts (121), performs secondary search using colour, shape and geometry when needed, applies dynamic location-based inspection checks, validates wire colour, and displays results directly as overlaid annotations on the captured camera image with colour-coded indications.
