MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621092848 A) filed by Aleena Affan Gadhwala on July 31, 2026, for An Automated Sensor Driven Device For Detection Of Milk Adulteration For Consumer Safety.

Inventor includes Aleena Affan Gadhwala.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for automated detection of milk adulteration using computer vision, colorimetric analysis, and automated sample processing. The system comprises a sample receiving chamber configured to receive a predetermined quantity of milk, a reagent strip assembly configured to produce colour changes in the presence of one or more adulterants, a reaction chamber for maintaining predetermined reaction conditions, an illumination module providing controlled lighting, an imaging module configured to acquire digital images of the reacted reagent strip, an image processing engine configured to preprocess images, identify reagent-strip regions, extract colour characteristics, and compare the extracted characteristics with stored calibration data, and an adulterant classification engine configured to determine the presence of one or more adulterants and generate an analytical result. The system further comprises an output interface configured to communicate the analytical result to a user and, optionally, a communication interface for transmitting results to external devices or cloud-based platforms. The corresponding method comprises receiving a milk sample, exposing reagent regions to the sample, maintaining a predetermined reaction interval, acquiring images under controlled illumination, processing the acquired images, comparing extracted colour information with reference calibration data, classifying the sample as pure or adulterated, identifying one or more adulterants where present, and communicating the analytical result. The invention provides an objective, rapid, repeatable, and cost-effective approach for milk adulteration detection suitable for domestic, commercial, and field-testing environments.
