MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641091998 A) filed by Ifet College Of Engineering on July 29, 2026, for An Automated Seedling Transplantation Apparatus With Robotic Manipulation Mechanism.

Inventors include Mrs. M. Jayasudha; Surveshwar T; and Sivabalan S.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an automated seedling transplantation apparatus (102) comprising an imaging module (104) configured to acquire images of seedlings, an embedded processing and control unit (106) configured to process the acquired images, a seedling detection module (108) configured to identify an individual seedling, and a position determination module (110) configured to determine a gripping position of the identified seedling. The apparatus further comprises a robotic manipulation assembly (112) including a multi-axis actuation mechanism (114)and a seedling gripping mechanism (116) configured to grip, extract, transport, and release the identified seedling at a transplantation location through a transplantation positioning mechanism (118) under coordinated operation of a motion control module (120). A power supply module (122) energizes the apparatus. The coordinated operation of the modules enables repeated automated pick-and-place transplantation with reduced manual intervention, minimized seedling damage, improved planting consistency, and enhanced transplantation efficiency for agricultural applications.
