Abstract: ABSTRACT: Title: An Automated Progressive Torsional Deformation Device for Heated Metal Workpieces and Method of Operation The present disclosure proposes an automated progressive torsional deformation device (100) for heated metal workpieces configured for controlled and repeatable torsional forming along a longitudinal extent of a heated metal workpiece through coordinated gripping, twisting, positional movement, sensing, and control. The automated progressive torsional deformation device (100) comprises a base frame (102), a workpiece holding unit (104), a movable carriage (106), a first drive unit (108), a bidirectional lead shaft (112), a third drive unit (118), plurality of locking pads (122), and a control unit (124). The automated progressive torsional deformation device (100) is configured to reduce dependency on operator skill and judgment while improving repeatability and consistency of torsional deformation. The automated progressive torsional deformation device (100) is further configured to perform torsional deformation based on monitored thermal, dimensional, and positional conditions of the heated metal workpiece.
