MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641064534 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology Tiruchirappalli on May 21, 2026, for An Automated Ndvi-Based Satellite Image Analysis System That Detects Changes In The Environment And Keep An Eye On The Ecosystems.

Inventors include Rashma V S; Rakshamedra R J; and Dr. Rajesh V.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: An automated device has been created to keep an eye on the environment using satellite images. The device tries to make the satellite images better and get rid of the noise after getting them from remote sensing datasets that are open to the public. You can figure out what kind of plants are in the pictures by looking at several of them with NDVI, spectral data, and texture data. A multi-temporal comparison module of the images will also show how the environment has changed over time. For example, it will show how cities have grown and trees have been cut down. A classification module that uses machine learning will let the system group areas based on how they are used and what they are covered with. There are two kinds of automatic tools that can help people see and understand changes they find. The automatic devices will make it easy for users to find out what has changed. The proposed invention will be based on a cloud-based virtual computer platform. It will be automated, efficient, and scalable, and it will let people monitor large areas of land or forests with very little help. The system and method are applicable for a number of tasks, including protecting the environment, planning cities, maintaining an eye on forests, and handling land.
